Learning how to play the cello doesn’t have to be old fashioned.
a bit about your teacher
Amy has been playing the cello for a long time. 31 years!
She's won solo and chamber music awards, and has three degrees in cello performance from the University of Iowa, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
It’s technically Dr. Amy.
Growing up, Amy’s mom would drive her 45 minutes each way to her cello lessons every week. She understands and appreciates the convenience of learning online.
She has over ten years of in person and online teaching experience. She's also a certified Suzuki teacher. Her youngest student is 8 and her oldest is 85. If you're a serious player and want to get more serious, she can help. If you're just learning cello to relax and have fun, she can also help!
She currently lives in NYC with her husband and her many plants. If you hear a few sirens in the background during your lesson, don’t be alarmed.
“Amy is the best extracurricular teacher my kids have ever had... and I have five kids. She is very kind and supportive. She looks for the good and praises it. She is organized, punctual, and methodical. She helps my child stay on task to make excellent use of their time together. She gives good demonstrations of proper technique. My child is learning well and sticking with it. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and brag about Amy often.”
“We love Amy! She’s been encouraging, cool, calm, and collected since the first day. It’s hard to get my teenager interested in anything these days and he greatly looks forward to lessons with Amy.”
“Amy has a great way about her which gives the student confidence. She’s fun, easy going and very talented. I would recommend her to anyone looking to study the cello.”
“Amy is an excellent cellist who is kind and caring. I am a former high school teacher who is returning to the cello after a long hiatus. I have been studying with Amy for 9 years. The nervousness and apprehension I had at first immediately disappeared after our first meeting. Amy is easy to talk to. She provides a safe and welcoming environment where learning can take place. I recommend her highly.”
